Draft survey of vessels and barges, and stock checks

Draft survey of sea-going vessels, barges and convoys: the cargo quantity from the vessel's drafts, with the full calculation in the report. Stock counts in silos and warehouses as well.

All services

We read the draughts, take the water sample for density, sound the tanks and calculate — at the start and at the end of the operation, together with the vessel's officer and the other party. The figure is everyone's, not ours.

What it covers

  • Initial and final draft survey, with the full calculation
  • Tank soundings, with the vessel's officer
  • Water sample and density at every reading
  • Stock measurement in silos, flat stores and on platforms
  • Stock counts and monitoring, at agreed intervals

How it goes

  1. We confirm the method and who attends.
  2. Initial readings and soundings, before the start.
  3. We follow the operation; on convoys, barge by barge.
  4. Final readings and calculation; the report is signed on board.

What you receive

The draft survey report with readings, soundings, density, corrections and quantity, signed by the surveyor and countersigned by the vessel. For stocks: the measurement sheet.

Questions about this service

Is a draft survey accepted for the contractual weight?

It depends on the contract. GAFTA and FOSFA accept it only with both parties' written agreement, with the method stated on the certificate. That is why we do it jointly.

Do you do it on barges, on the Danube?

Yes: Galați, Brăila, Giurgiu, Calafat, Călărași and the other Danube ports, barge by barge.

At a glance

Quantity, read on the vessel

Drafts are read aft, midships and forward at the start and at the end of the operation. The difference gives the quantity loaded.
